Take Action on Spam Calls

Working from home during the pandemic has really brought home to me the huge inconvenience caused by unwanted recorded phone calls.

Already this morning I have had 4 recorded calls from different numbers, all supposedly from my Internet Service Provider threatening to cut off my internet within the next 24-48 hours. My phone is TPS registered but that only applies to live calls not recorded ones.

My only option therefore is to report the calls to the Information Commissioners Office using their quick and easy reporting tool available at

https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/nuisance-calls-and-messages/spam-texts-and-nuisance-calls/

Use 1471 beforehand to get hold of the number that called you and the exact time of the call.

This I have been doing on a regular basis but is everyone aware that they can report these calls?

According to information supplied by the ICO they received 5,549 reports of unwanted recorded calls in January 2021.

If my experience is anything to go by then this is just the tip of the iceberg.

We are therefore asking people to report these unwanted recorded calls so that the ISO has the information to take action and a better indication of the size of this problem.
