Stop The Bin Tax

Wycombe Liberal Democrats have launched a petition calling for Buckinghamshire Council to abolish their new "Bin Tax". This proposal is a scheme by Buckinghamshire Conservatives to charge residents for responsibly recycling their garden waste by taxing our green bins at a suggested rate of £45 per year.

The scheme has already been rolled out in parts of Bucks and we understand that the Council have delayed making a decision on when to roll it out over the remaining areas of Bucks. Would we be cynical in suggesting that this is because 2021 is now an election year? Ask your candidates for May whether they will oppose the bin tax for the duration of their term on the Council.

Toni Brodelle, Wycombe Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson, said today, "I am calling on residents across Wycombe to sign this petition calling on Buckinghamshire Council to axe the "Bin Tax" immediately. At a time when protecting our environment has never been more important, the Conservatives have decided now is the time to tax our residents for being green. This is clearly another Conservative scheme to raise cash after wasting money on creating a council that is bigger than the Scottish Parliament. Wycombe Liberal Democrats have opposed these charges from day one. The Conservative Cabinet should listen to residents and do the right thing by axing these charges straight away. I urge people to sign this petition as soon as possible to make their feelings known."
