Residents from across Wycombe came together today and brought the Town Centre to a standstill

as they demonstrated against the plans to build a Rugby Stadium on the Green Belt at Booker.

Cllr Simon Parker & Lionel Pearce

Councillor Simon Parker who represents the Booker area and has campaigned against the plans said “It

was a great turnout and sends a clear message to the Conservative Cabinet which meets on Monday that

they should say NO to Booker. They have wasted enough of our money on this white elephant and

should stick to their manifesto pledge to protect the Green Belt.”

Thank you to everyone who supported the Liberal Democrats in the Wycombe District Council Elections.

In Wycombe Constituency we lost 2 and gained 3 so considering the national picture we did ok.

In Booker we gained a seat from the Conservatives who slipped to bottom of the poll as their vote was decimated because of their plan to build upon Green Belt Land. Congratulations to our candidate Simon Parker who has led the opposition to these plans.

In Micklefield we gained 2 seats, one from Labour and one from the Conservatives. This was a fantastic victory for the Micklefield community who came out to support two strong community activists. Well done to Matt Knight and Paula Lee.

Team Micklefield Wins

We held our seats in Bowerdean ward & Ryemead ward. Congratulations to Chaudary Ditta, Julia Wassell, Ray Farmer & Trevor Snaith.

As the Official Opposition to the Conservatives locally we will continue to stand up for our local communities and put local residents first.

Labour managed to pick up a few Councillors by running a dishonest and cynical campaign, pretending to voters that they wouldn’t be making any cuts if they were still in government. None of their leaflets outlined any plans to improve our District so I’ve no idea what they can constructively bring to the Council Chamber.

The full election results can be found here.

Next elections are the County Council Elections in 2013 so if you are interested in becoming a Councillor then please get in touch.

Thank you again for all your support.

The advantages of the Alternative Vote explained in one poster. If you would rather have a beer vote YES.

Conservatives said they would protect the Green Belt. Instead they plan to build a Rugby Stadium and hundreds of houses on it. You can’t trust the Conservatives to protect our Countryside.

The Liberal Democrat Wycombe District Election manifesto 2011 states

“We will aim to provide sport and leisure facilities which are of high quality, affordable, accessible and situated within the heart of each local community. We welcome the presence of major sport clubs such as Wycombe Wanderers and London Wasps in the District. We will work with them to support their development and growth. Any development must include clear benefit to the local economy and provide improved access to sports to local residents: it must not be at the expense of the tax payer nor affect Green Belt land.”

Vote Liberal Democrat on May 5th and protect our Green Belt.

Wycombe District Councillor Paul Lambourne has today joined the Liberal Democrats.

Cllr Paul Lambourne with Group Leader Cllr Steve Guy

Councillor Lambourne sits on Wycombe District Council representing the Sands ward.

Wycombe District Council Liberal Democrat Group Leader Steve Guy said:

I am delighted to welcome Councillor Lambourne to the Liberal Democrat team in Wycombe. He has an outstanding record of service to the local community. Paul is a local man born and bred in High Wycombe so we feel honoured that he has chosen to join the Liberal Democrats. I believe he will be a great asset to our team. We are all looking forward to working with him for the benefit of the people of Wycombe.”

Councillor Lambourne said:

In recent months I have become very unhappy with regards to the style of leadership of the current Leader of the ruling Conservative Group.

The events that have taken place during recent Charter Trustee meetings has left me disillusioned and dismayed.

After careful consideration and soul searching, I have decided I can no longer remain on the Conservative back benches and hereby give notice that I will be crossing the floor to the Liberal Democrats with immediate affect. Where I know the Liberal Democrats welcome and respect diverse views from all their members and I look forward to working with them in the future for the benefit of all the residents.

I have been quietly impressed with the performance of Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats both nationally and locally. After no one party won the General Election it would have been easy for the Liberal Democrats to walk away and continue as a protest party but to their credit they have rolled up their sleeves and got on with the job of clearing up the financial mess Labour left behind. They have had to take some tough decisions and the resulting flak but as a former Conservative I can see the influence they are having in Government. Cutting taxes for the low paid rather than the rich, increasing the state pension and something which is very close to my heart protecting the fundamental principles of the NHS. Publicly funded, free and focused on patients not profit, so I was delighted that Nick Clegg has made clear that there will be no privatisation of the NHS whilst the Liberal Democrats are in government, I am more than happy to sign up for that.”
