Pool Petition passes the 2000 mark

Written by morty on February 21, 2009 – 10:19 pm -

The campaign to save Holywell Mead Open Air Swimming Pool has really taken off in the last week. The news that the 2000 mark has been smashed and that many local community groups like the Ramblers Association and resident groups are also backing the pool has given campaigners a boost.

Residents who wish to object to the closure can email their District Councillor via the web site http://www.writetothem.com/

Unexpected was the national launch of the Conservatives new policy of giving residents a greater say in the running of their local communities. It is hoped that this will cause local Conservatives to rethink their policy of closing a much loved community facility without any consultation.

Last weekend Steve Guy, Liberal Democrat Councillors and Pool campaigners were in High Wycombe Town Centre to collect signatures. At stages demand to sign the petition was so high that there were 5 petitions on the go at the same time and a trip had to be made to arrange further copies.

Our thanks go to everyone who helped including Mcdonalds staff who wore the ‘Save Our Pool’ stickers.
