Speaking at the Annual Dinner 2008, Dr Vince Cable MP said that the Liberal Democrats had firmly established themselves as the alternative to the Tories in Wycombe. Dr Cable said that under Labour, inequality was ‘as bad or worse than it was under Margaret Thatcher.’ He spoke of the effect that the credit crunch was having in this area saying ‘even in a prosperous area like this there an awful lot of pensioners and low paid workers who are finding life very difficult.’
Dr Cable spoke of the disparity between the liberal and environmental rhetoric of the Conservative Party leadership and their local base which was ‘not remotely converted to this way of thinking.’
Dr Cable gave an interview to the Bucks Free Press. You can see the report by the Bucks Free Press and listen to the interview here.
