Wycombe Liberal Democrats

Liberal Democrats Ray Farmer & Trevor Snaith who defeated the Conservatives to become Wycombe District Councillors for the Ryemead ward were ‘weighed’ in on Saturday in front of a  large crowd that included Robbie Coltrane.

The mayor and Councillors are weighed in to see whether or not they have been getting fat at the taxpayers expense.

Traditionally the “macebearer” dressed in tradional costume rings a bell and calls out the weight. When he adds the words “And no more!” the crowd cheers as a sign of their appreciation and gratitude for hard work done for the community.

‘And some more!’

But if he shouts “And some more!”, it means they have been indulging in too much good living at ratepayers’ expense and the crowd jeers and boos.

In years gone by they would have also pelted the offending person with tomatoes and rotten fruit. (I will suggest this is reintroduced in our next manifesto!)

As this was Ray & Trevors first weigh in they were given the ‘and no more’ cry. In a years time we will be able to make a judgement for real on how hard they have worked!
