Hi Steve,

Regardless of the junction I think I will probably be voting Lib Dem anyway. I certainly cannot bring myself to vote the other two parties standing and I don’t believe in spoils.
Hopefully one of the Lib Dem people will be at the community centre in Flackwell tomorrow morning so I can have a little chat with them

Becky, I do hope you won’t find it necessary to spoil your vote as we have two outstanding candidates in Flackwell Heath! Jeff Hershel and Vivienne Pollock can be contacted via the Beaconsfield Lib Dems website (Flackwell Heath is in Beaconsfield constituency). I will write to them about the junction that you refer to as they may already be aware of the issue.

Hey all, I am not ashamed to say I have always been a Labour voter. Thing is this year in the elections there are no Labour candidates in Flackwell Heath.

I refuse to vote BNP so ignore them. I am not sure I could bring myself to vote Tory so that leaves only Lib Dem or a spoiled vote. I don’t like to spoil votes.

What can lib dems do for me in Flackwell Heath? One of my issues is something which has always been ignored. We desperately need a mini roundabout at the top of Sheepridge Lane. Its a very dangerous junction as its so difficult to see the cars coming along the road when people wish to turn out. Only last week there was a nasty accident there. It may seem only a minor thing to people, but one day there will be a fatality.

Will any of the Lib Dem candidates be willing to pursue this matter?

I can only agree with my wife, Neil and Aaron that it is very difficult to vote for someone you know nothing about and I do appreciate that getting leaflets to every one is a major enterprise but if that proves impossible it would be a good idea to leave some information online as Aaron suggests.

If there were a Green candidate I would be very likely to vote for him or her, but the LibDems seem the next best thing and I really can’t bring myself to vote Tory … so if there is any chance of getting something out in one form or another before polling day, then that would be greatly appreciated. And it would no doubt be appreciated by a good number of others who find themselves in a similar position.

I am also wondering if we are going to receive any literature from the Liberal Democrats and am equally surprised that there is no information on the Booker candidate Robert Perkins to be found on any website. How can I consider voting for someone I hardly heard of and cannot find any information on except that he supports Chelsea FC. Please send me something to make a judgement on. Thanks

Hi, regarding the literature for each candidate… I appreciate the fact that it takes considerable time and effort to get leaflets delivered, but do think it’s slightly odd that the information contained in them isn’t online. All that would need to be done is scan in the leaflets and post them online as a pdf, or even if you just had a short paragraph about each candidate somewhere on the website this would be massively useful for many I’m sure, and certainly wouldn’ be expensive.

This is quite true – The Independent covered this story last year. They interviewed a former water board employee in London. He described how they used to lower buckets of poison into the sewers at regular intervals. He knew they were needed, he said, because they were always empty the next time they were checked! The rat population has been exploding for years – so it would be misleading to conclude that it had any connection to the current recycling policy.

Regardind the sugested increase in Rat numbers.
I’m not sure if this is correct but I heard that before the Water companies were privatised they would often put rat poison into the sewers to control the numbers however since privatisation this has been cut as it impacts on profits.

Refuse collections
There are a number of issues surrounding refuse and recycling
Firstly 2 weekly collections are acceptable until we see temperatures rising and the green bins staring to “ferment” — we then need option of extra collections in summer months
Secondly vermin issue is one we need to look at closely as there are mixed views as to whether its refuse driven or a general rat problem .Whichever it is we need to see increased rodent control from council
There are also other refuse and recycling issues to address.
We need to see glass ,plastic and tin collections from homes.
We need to see increase in street bins and also ensure they are multifunctional by having paper,plastic and glass sections
